The Challenge: Time and Cost Pressures in Bridge Rehabilitation
The maintenance of bridge structures is often associated with long closure periods and high costs. Conventional waterproofing systems frequently require multi-step work processes and are highly weather-dependent, which can lead to unpredictable delays. Especially at low temperatures, many materials reach their processing limits, which further hinders construction progress. These factors complicate schedule and cost planning and pose a significant risk to the project’s success. There is therefore a need for systems that enable fast, weather-independent application while meeting the highest technical standards.
The Solution: Efficiency and Planning Certainty Through PMMA Technology
PMMA-based Triflex Bridge Deck systems have been specifically developed to meet the high demands of bridge construction. Their most outstanding feature is their extremely fast curing time: the sealed surfaces are fully load-bearing again after just about 45 minutes. This allows subsequent trades, such as asphalt paving, to proceed without long wait times. Application is possible without any problems even at temperatures as low as 0 °C. There is no need for time-consuming measures such as enclosures or heating the construction site, which reduces construction costs and increases the reliability of execution. This allows planners to reliably meet construction schedules, regardless of the season.
Technical Systems for Bridge Maintenance in Detail
Triflex offers a comprehensive portfolio of coordinated products that ensure a durable and code-compliant solution for every requirement in bridge construction.
Triflex Bridge Deck Primer: Secure Adhesion to Concrete
A reliable primer is the foundation of any long-lasting waterproofing system. Triflex Bridge Deck Primer is a two-component PMMA primer that meets the requirements of ZTV-ING, Part 6, Section 1. It penetrates deeply into the concrete substrate and ensures excellent adhesion.
Application Reliability: The primer can be applied at temperatures as low as 0 °C, ensuring project deadlines are met even during colder months.
System compatibility: It is heat-resistant and is therefore ideal as a primer under bituminous membrane waterproofing. It is also compatible with existing EP waterproofing systems.
Efficiency: Its fast curing allows the waterproofing layer to be applied on the same day, significantly accelerating the construction process.
