360° view of the gutter at the Klimahaus in Bremerhaven.
Every year, half a million international visitors to the Klimahaus Bremerhaven learn about the Earth’s various climate zones. How extreme weather conditions can affect a building’s envelope became an unintended issue for the operator of this scientific exhibition center: The salty North Sea air had compromised the functionality of the roof membrane. As a result, water seeped in through the surrounding aluminum-lined gutter and into the insulation, causing damage even in the exhibition halls.
The building owner, Bremerhavener Entwicklungsgesellschaft Alter-/Neuer Hafen mbH & Co. KG (BEAN for short), therefore commissioned DADEGO Dachdecker-Genossenschaft Bremen eG to immediately repair the walkable gutter. The requirement was for a weather-resistant product that adheres to the metal substrate and provides long-term protection for the building structure. The building owner, the installer, and liquid polymer manufacturer Triflex consulted on a suitable solution and determined that the fabric-reinforced waterproofing system Triflex ProDetail met the specified requirements.

Triflex ProDetail was the ideal solution for the renovation project because the waterproofing system can be applied in sections and bonds 100% to the substrate.
