Even after 25 years, Triflex ProDetail still provides protection!
The Hagemeyer fashion house is an institution in downtown Minden. When leaks in the flat roof of the utility room—which was covered with bitumen membranes—were repaired 25 years ago, a liquid polymer system based on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was used: Triflex ProDetail. The fact that this product delivers on its promises has now been confirmed twice over: A material test of existing samples, combined with an extended ETA assessment, now certifies that the liquid waterproofing system has a service life of 40 years. To this end, test specimens were also taken from the fashion store’s roof, among other locations, with the following result: The waterproofing remains permanently functional not only in the laboratory but also in practice.
Triflex ProDetail
Full-surface adhesion and flexibility
- Edge connections and penetrations in the roof of the Hagemeyer department store in Minden were resealed in 1999 due to damage. The repair was carried out using Triflex ProDetail.
- The PMMA-based liquid waterproofing allowed the applicators to work around the sensitive fiber-optic cables.
- Previously, only bitumen membranes had been installed on the roof. With Triflex ProDetail, connections can be sealed seamlessly and without joints. The material adheres over the entire surface.
- Reinforcement with Triflex Special Fleece gives the material flexibility and excellent dynamic crack-bridging properties. This makes it ideal for integrating even complex details. It has now been retested.
- Triflex ProDetail does not slip even on vertical surfaces. The W3 classification according to EAD 030350-00-0402 has so far certified the product as having an expected service life of 25 years.
- For the material testing, new test specimens were first inspected according to expanded ETA standards. In addition, samples were taken from existing structures, including the Hagemeyer fashion store. After approximately 25 years of use, their condition was still so good that, based on the combined test results, Triflex ProDetail is now assigned an expected service life of 40 years.
