Liquid Waterproofing for a Gable Roof in Berlin

Because cracks kept appearing in his bitumen shingle roof after more than four decades—despite repeated partial repairs—allowing moisture to penetrate the structure, a private homeowner in Berlin decided to renovate the waterproofing. For economic reasons, however, he wanted to carry out this work without demolishing the existing structure. This requirement was met by re-waterproofing the entire roof, including all details, using a liquid polymer system from the manufacturer Triflex. While the polymethyl methacrylate-based material (PMMA) has already proven itself many times on flat roofs, its use on a pitched roof was a first for the contracted roofing company. Together, the contractor and Triflex worked on a solution that ensures the resin adheres even to a sloped surface. As a result, the roof of the single-family home was made watertight again within a short time—with a result that is durable, cost-effective to implement, and visually appealing.
