Rounded shapes, curved concrete domes, organic architecture: The Balz Shell House in Leinfelden-Echterdingen is considered one of the most unusual residential buildings in Baden-Württemberg. The curved roof and parapet surfaces of the Balz House—a listed architect-designed home—place high demands on materials and workmanship. After more than four decades, significant signs of wear and tear had become apparent. Weathering, cracks, and porous waterproofing led to moisture damage on the roof surfaces and parapets. The concrete structures, covering a total area of approximately 160 square meters, needed to be permanently and seamlessly waterproofed. The PMMA-based waterproofing system Triflex ProTect was used. The Minden-based liquid polymer expert also supported the installation process with detailed substrate analyses and close technical guidance.
